Dharma & Relationships

Thursday, January 21, 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Husband and wife dharma teachers Duncan Cryle and Karen McAllister have been living and exploring the question of how to bring dharma into our relationships for more than a decade.

Join us for this special event as they share the wisdom they’ve gleaned from their years of study on this topic.

This will be their only teaching in Central/Eastern Canada on this trip. Don’t miss it.

Awaken in Toronto classes are offered on the basis of dāna in order to support opportunities for participants to develop their practice of generosity. We encourage you to give generously, however that looks for your situation.

All offerings made at events with visiting teachers go to the teachers.

Duncan Cryle has been practicing meditation for more than 20 years and has studied intensively with Doug Duncan Sensei since 2001.  After completing a Ph.D. in philosophy he turned to a career as an IT consultant in the financial industry. He spent 5 years working short-term IT contracts and spending the remainder of the year with Doug Sensei – travelling, on retreat, and helping with the set-up and running of Clear Sky Meditation and Study Center.  He recently stepped down from the Board for Clear Sky after 8 years.  His primary teaching focus is to develop ways to apply and integrate the rich tradition of meditation teachings into our busy and complex city lives.

Karen McAllister went to Japan in 1998 to study Zen meditation and Japanese traditional arts and met her teacher Achariya Doug Duncan that same year. She managed the Japan meditation centre for 6 years and organized extended group expeditions for her teacher in Bhutan, Antarctica, Argentina, Patagonia and Laos. In 2003 and 2004, she helped the Dharma Japan group found Clear Sky Meditation Centre, an innovative non-profit in B.C. devoted to awakening and exploration. Since then she has been an active participant in the unfolding of this incredible centre, taking on the role of Director of Fund Development and Marketing, and currently as the chair of the Clear Sky board. She has now joined her husband, Duncan, and together they have started teaching Dharma for the benefit of all beings.

Thursday classes are held from 7:30pm to 9pm at Inhabit Pilates at 1211 Bathurst (just north of Dupont.) If you are driving, there is a parking lot for the studio one block east on Albany, just north of Bridgman.
