At the end of March and beginning of April this year, Awaken in Toronto had the great privilege of hosting master teachers Doug Duncan Sensei & Catherine Pawasarat Sensei. Their annual visit is always a highly-anticipated time of insight, exploration and a deep re-connection with the core of what we are on about: awakening in this lifetime.
To celebrate the Toronto launch of Dharma if you Dare, Doug & Catherine gave teachings on the importance of addressing all of our needs, including social and financial, for spiritual progress. Then, over the course of the weekend at the Centre for Social Innovation Spadina, they led us through effective ways of making our habits conscious and meeting our traumas with the transformative power of compassion.
The visit culminated in a ten-day retreat at the Dharma Centre of Canada focused on an in-depth and experiential exploration of habits, trauma, and how we can heal ourselves and the world through learning to be our own ‘good enough mothers’. We are extremely grateful for the wisdom they imparted to us while here and can’t wait for their next visit.
